-겨자씨와 누룩의 비유

    작은 씨앗이 나무가되는 것과 소량의 누룩이 가져오게될 엄청난 결과를 통해 하나님 나라가 겸손하고 보잘것없이 시작됐으나 그 미래는 비교할 수 없을 정도가 될것이라는 사실을 말하고 있다. 그러나 이것은 결코 성공주의나 승리주의를 부추기는 목적의 비유가 아니라 오히려 정반대임을 기억해야 한다. 하늘 나라는 이 나라를 가져오신 예수님의 활동처럼 겸손과 섬김 긍휼로 시작해서 그와 같은 성격의 나무(새들이 쉴 수 있는)로 자란다. 성공과 승리를 꿈꾸는 사람들이 터전으로 삼는 나라가 결코 아니다. 하나님은 백향목과 같은 나라가 아니다. 겨자씨처럼 누룩도 처음에는 그 존재가 식별되지 않을 정도로 미미하나 시간이 흘렀을 때 놀랄 정도로 극적인 결과로 나타난다,

    주님은 하나님의 나라를 위해 겨자씨를 뿌리시고, 누룩을 숨기신다. 처음에는 눈에 보이지도 않을 정도이지만 결국 선한 영향력을 끼치게 된다. 우리도 이런 겨자씨처럼, 누룩처럼 살아야한다, 세상속에서 지친자들이 쉴 수 있는 그늘이 되어야하고… 세상을 변화시키는 누룩이 되어야한다.
