예레미야 38:1

KRV 맛단의 아들 스바댜와 바스훌의 아들 그다랴와 셀레먀의 아들 유갈과 말기야의 아들 바스훌이 예레미야의 모든 백성에게 이르는 말을 들은즉 이르기를0% 차이

NIV Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashhur, Jehukal son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur son of Malkijah heard what Jeremiah was telling all the people when he said,

ESV Now Shephatiah the son of Mattan, Gedaliah the son of Pashhur, Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur the son of Malchiah heard the words that Jeremiah was saying to all the people:

예레미야 38:2

KRV 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 이 성에 머무는 자는 칼과 기근과 염병에 죽으리라 그러나 갈대아인에게 항복하는 자는 살리니 그의 생명이 노략물을 얻음 같이 살리라0% 차이

NIV “This is what the LORD says: ‘Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague, but whoever goes over to the Babylonians will live. They will escape with their lives; they will live.’

ESV “Thus says the LORD: He who stays in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence, but he who goes out to the Chaldeans shall live. He shall have his life as a prize of war, and live.

예레미야 38:3

KRV 나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 이 성이 반드시 바벨론 왕의 군대의 손에 붙이우리니 그가 취하리라 하셨다 하는지라0% 차이

NIV And this is what the LORD says: ‘This city will certainly be given into the hands of the army of the king of Babylon, who will capture it.’ ”

ESV Thus says the LORD: This city shall surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon and be taken.”

예레미야 38:4

KRV 이에 그 방백들이 왕께 고하되 이 사람이 백성의 평안을 구치 아니하고 해를 구하오니 청컨대 이 사람을 죽이소서 그가 이같이 말하여 이 성에 남은 군사의 손과 모든 백성의 손을 약하게 하나이다0% 차이

NIV Then the officials said to the king, “This man should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are left in this city, as well as all the people, by the things he is saying to them. This man is not seeking the good of these people but their ruin.”

ESV Then the officials said to the king, “Let this man be put to death, for he is weakening the hands of the soldiers who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking such words to them. For this man is not seeking the welfare of this people, but their harm.”

예레미야 38:5

KRV 시드기야 왕이 가로되 보라 그가 너희 손에 있느니라 왕은 조금도 너희를 거스릴 수 없느니라0% 차이

NIV “He is in your hands,” King Zedekiah answered. “The king can do nothing to oppose you.”

ESV King Zedekiah said, “Behold, he is in your hands, for the king can do nothing against you.”

예레미야 38:6

KRV 그들이 예레미야를 취하여 시위대 뜰에 있는 왕의 아들 말기야의 구덩이에 던져 넣을 때에 예레미야를 줄로 달아내리웠는데 그 구덩이에는 물이 없고 진흙뿐이므로 예레미야가 진흙 중에 빠졌더라0% 차이

NIV So they took Jeremiah and put him into the cistern of Malkijah, the king’s son, which was in the courtyard of the guard. They lowered Jeremiah by ropes into the cistern; it had no water in it, only mud, and Jeremiah sank down into the mud.

ESV So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down by ropes. And there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

예레미야 38:7

KRV 왕궁 환관 구스인 에벳멜렉이 그들의 예레미야를 구덩이에 던져넣었음을 들으니라 때에 왕이 베냐민 문에 앉았더니0% 차이

NIV But Ebed-Melek, a Cushite, an official in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate,

ESV When Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, a eunuch who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern—the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate—

예레미야 38:8

KRV 에벳멜렉이 왕궁에서 나와 왕께 고하여 가로되0% 차이

NIV Ebed-Melek went out of the palace and said to him,

예레미야 38:9

KRV 내 주 왕이여 저 사람들이 선지자 예레미야에게 행한 모든 일은 악하니이다 성 중에 떡이 떨어졌거늘 그들이 그를 구덩이에 던져 넣었으니 그가 거기서 주려 죽으리이다0% 차이

NIV “My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have thrown him into a cistern, where he will starve to death when there is no longer any bread in the city.”

ESV “My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they did to Jeremiah the prophet by casting him into the cistern, and he will die there of hunger, for there is no bread left in the city.”

NASB95 “My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet whom they have cast into the cistern; and he will die right where he is because of the famine, for there is no more bread in the city.”

예레미야 38:10

KRV 왕이 구스인 에벳멜렉에게 명하여 가로되 너는 여기서 삼십 명을 데리고 가서 선지자 예레미야의 죽기 전에 그를 구덩이에서 끌어내라0% 차이

NIV Then the king commanded Ebed-Melek the Cushite, “Take thirty men from here with you and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies.”

ESV Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, “Take thirty men with you from here, and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies.”

NASB95 Then the king commanded Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, saying, “Take thirty men from here under your authority and bring up Jeremiah the prophet from the cistern before he dies.”

예레미야 38:11

KRV 에벳멜렉이 사람들을 데리고 왕궁 곳간 밑 방에 들어가서 거기서 헝겊과 낡은 옷을 취하고 그것을 구덩이에 있는 예레미야에게 줄로 내리우며0% 차이

NIV So Ebed-Melek took the men with him and went to a room under the treasury in the palace. He took some old rags and worn-out clothes from there and let them down with ropes to Jeremiah in the cistern.

ESV So Ebed-melech took the men with him and went to the house of the king, to a wardrobe in the storehouse, and took from there old rags and worn-out clothes, which he let down to Jeremiah in the cistern by ropes.

NASB95 So Ebed-melech took the men under his authority and went into the king’s palace to a place beneath the storeroom and took from there worn-out clothes and worn-out rags and let them down by ropes into the cistern to Jeremiah.

예레미야 38:12

KRV 구스인 에벳멜렉이 예레미야에게 이르되 너는 이 헝겊과 낡은 옷을 네 겨드랑이에 대고 줄을 그 아래 대라 예레미야가 그대로 하매0% 차이

NIV Ebed-Melek the Cushite said to Jeremiah, “Put these old rags and worn-out clothes under your arms to pad the ropes.” Jeremiah did so,

ESV Then Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, “Put the rags and clothes between your armpits and the ropes.” Jeremiah did so.

NASB95 Then Ebed-melech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, “Now put these worn-out clothes and rags under your armpits under the ropes”; and Jeremiah did so.

예레미야 38:13

KRV 그들이 줄로 예레미야를 구덩이에서 끌어낸지라 예레미야가 시위대 뜰에 머무니라0% 차이

NIV and they pulled him up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.

ESV Then they drew Jeremiah up with ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

NASB95 So they pulled Jeremiah up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern, and Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guardhouse.

계속해서 하나님의 말씀인 예루살렘의 멸망을 말하던 예레미야는 결국 고관대작들의 미움을 사게 되었고 이들은 예레미야를 말기야의 구덩이에 넣어 죽이려합니다.

예레미야를 구덩이에 넣겠다고 왕에게 말하자... 왕이라는 사람이 하는 말이 참 가관이다. " 그가 너희 손에 있느니라 왕은 조금도 너희를 거스릴 수 없느니라" 예레미야를 죽이고 싶긴했나보다... 그러나 자신이 죽일 용기는 없었고... 고관대작들이 죽여준다고하니 은근슬쩍 유기를 가장한 동의를 통해 예레미야를 죽이는 일에 동참한다....

한편 구스인 왕궁내시인 에벳멜렉은 이소식을 듣고 예레미야를 살리기위해 모든 위협을 무릅쓰고 왕앞에 나가서 충언을 한다.

이것은 악한일이며 그냥 두면 예레미야는 죽을 것이라고... 그러자 이 줏대없는 시드기야는 그럼 니가 가서 살려주라고 말한다... 

에벳멜렉은 사람들을 데리고 옷가지들로 줄을 엮어서 예레미야를 구출한다.

시드기야도 하나님을 믿는 사람이고, 에벳멜렉도 아마 하나님을 믿는 사람인 것 같다.

그러나 그 둘은 하는 행동이 다르다.

한사람은 하나님의 뜻에 불순종하며 은근히 자신의 유익을 위해 다른 사람의 목숨을 죽이는 일에 동의하고

한사람은 하나님의 뜻에 순종하며 타인의 생명을 살리기 위해 자신의 위험을 무릅쓴다.

과연 진짜 하나님을 믿는 사람은 누구이며, 하나님은 어떤 사람을 원하실 것인가... 나는 하나님의 뜻에 순종하며 타인을 위해 나의 위험을 무릎쓰는 사람인가...
