NIV Jeremiah started to leave the city to go to the territory of Benjamin to get his share of the property among the people there.

ESV Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin to receive his portion there among the people.

NIV But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said, “You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

ESV When he was at the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

NIV “That’s not true!” Jeremiah said. “I am not deserting to the Babylonians.” But Irijah would not listen to him; instead, he arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.

ESV And Jeremiah said, “It is a lie; I am not deserting to the Chaldeans.” But Irijah would not listen to him, and seized Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.

NASB95 But Jeremiah said, “A lie! I am not going over to the Chaldeans”; yet he would not listen to him. So Irijah arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.

예레미야 37:15

NIV They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.

ESV And the officials were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.

NIV Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time.

NIV Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, “Is there any word from the LORD?” “Yes,” Jeremiah replied, “you will be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.”

ESV King Zedekiah sent for him and received him. The king questioned him secretly in his house and said, “Is there any word from the LORD?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” Then he said, “You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”

NASB95 Now King Zedekiah sent and took him out; and in his palace the king secretly asked him and said, “Is there a word from the LORD?” And Jeremiah said, “There is!” Then he said, “You will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon!”

NIV Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “What crime have I committed against you or your attendants or this people, that you have put me in prison?

NIV Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, ‘The king of Babylon will not attack you or this land’?

ESV Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land’?

NIV But now, my lord the king, please listen. Let me bring my petition before you: Do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, or I will die there.”

ESV Now hear, please, O my lord the king: let my humble plea come before you and do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, lest I die there.”

KRV 이에 시드기야 왕이 명하여 예레미야를 시위대 뜰에 두고 떡 만드는 자의 거리에서 매일 떡 한덩이씩 그에게 주게 하매 성중에 떡이 다할 때까지 이르니라 예레미야가 시위대 뜰에 머무니라0% 차이

NIV King Zedekiah then gave orders for Jeremiah to be placed in the courtyard of the guard and given a loaf of bread from the street of the bakers each day until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard.

ESV So King Zedekiah gave orders, and they committed Jeremiah to the court of the guard. And a loaf of bread was given him daily from the bakers’ street, until all the bread of the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

예레미야는 멸명과 회복을 이야기하면서 멸망의 시간에도 회복의 날을 준비하고 있었다. 그래서 그는 베냐민 땅으로 갈 수 밖에 없었다.

그런데 사람들은 그를 반역자 취급했다. 아마 정황상으로는 그러할지도 모르겠다. 이집트와의 전쟁으로 바벨론 군대가 물러간 틈을 타서 마치 바벨론으로 귀하할 것 처럼 보였나보다. 그래서 그를 반역자로 몰았다... 그리고 때리고... 가두었다....

예레미야는 너무 너무 힘들었다. 정말 죽는 줄 알았던 것 같다... 그런 상황에서 시드기야가 또 묻는다... 하나님의 뜻이 있느냐?

미친놈 아닌가... 가두고 때리고 죽기 전까지 힘들게 해놓고... 하나님의 뜻을 물어본다... 그동안 계속 말씀하셨는데.... 

사실 이쯤 되면 내가 예레미야라면 나는 그가 듣고 싶어하는 말을 해주고 풀려나고 말것 같다... 그러나 예레미야는 그렇지 않았다. 

여전히 하나님이 하시는 말씀을 그대로 전한다....

우리는 모두 멸망하는 삶을 살아가는 가운데 있다. 우리의 이 땅에서의 삶은 분명 죽음으로 귀결된다. 그러나 우리는 회복 될것(부활)을 준비한다. 이것이 믿음이다.

오늘 성실함으로 회복의 날을 준비하지 않는다면 하나님의 말씀대로 행하지는 않으면서 하나님의 말씀이 바뀌기를 바라는 시드기야와 다를바가 없다.

오늘 성실함으로 하나님 앞에 회복의 날을 준비하자!
