NIV Ishmael son of Nethaniah and the ten men who were with him got up and struck down Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, killing the one whom the king of Babylon had appointed as governor over the land.

NIV Ishmael also killed all the men of Judah who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, as well as the Babylonian soldiers who were there.

NIV But ten of them said to Ishmael, “Don’t kill us! We have wheat and barley, olive oil and honey, hidden in a field.” So he let them alone and did not kill them with the others.

NIV Now the cistern where he threw all the bodies of the men he had killed along with Gedaliah was the one King Asa had made as part of his defense against Baasha king of Israel. Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled it with the dead.

NIV Ishmael made captives of all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah—the king’s daughters along with all the others who were left there, over whom Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam. Ishmael son of Nethaniah took them captive and set out to cross over to the Ammonites.

NIV When Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers who were with him heard about all the crimes Ishmael son of Nethaniah had committed,

NIV they took all their men and went to fight Ishmael son of Nethaniah. They caught up with him near the great pool in Gibeon.

NIV Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers who were with him led away all the people of Mizpah who had survived, whom Johanan had recovered from Ishmael son of Nethaniah after Ishmael had assassinated Gedaliah son of Ahikam—the soldiers, women, children and court officials he had recovered from Gibeon.

KRV 애굽으로 가려 하여 떠나 베들레헴 근처에 있는 게롯김함에 머무렀으니0% 차이

NIV And they went on, stopping at Geruth Kimham near Bethlehem on their way to Egypt

NIV to escape the Babylonians. They were afraid of them because Ishmael son of Nethaniah had killed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed as governor over the land.

사건 구성

0. 40장 마지막에 보면, 요하난이 비밀 스럽게 그다랴에게 이스마엘이 암몬으로 부터 보냄을 받은 자객이라고 말을 한다. 그리고 요하난이 이스마엘을 대신 죽여줄테니 명령만 내려달라고 한다. 그러나 그다랴는 이 말을 믿지 않고... 듣지 않는다...

1. 이스마엘 (왕의 종친, 엘리사마의 손자, 느다냐의 아들, 왕의 장관)이 그다랴와 함께 밥을 먹고 있었다.

2. 이스마엘과 그의 사람 열사람이 그다랴를 칼로 쳐 죽였다. (아마도 그다랴는 호위무사도 없이 이스마엘과 식사를 한듯...)

3. 미스바에 있는 유다인과 바벨론 군사를 다 죽였다.

4. 그다랴가 죽은지 이틀이 되었어도 아는 사람이 없다.

5. 80명 정도 되는 사람들이 제사를 드리러 미스바에 왔다. 이들을 안내하는 척 하면서 그들을 죽인다. 그 가운데 10명이 자신들이 숨겨 두었던 재물들을 줄 것을 약속하였더니 이들만 살려주고 다른이들은 모두 죽였다.

6. 이스마엘은 나머지 이스라엘 백성들을 사로잡아서 암몬으로 항복하러 가려고 한다.

7. 요하난(가레아의 아들)이 이스마엘의 악행을 듣고 그들을 대항하려 출전한다. 백성들은 요하난을 보고 기뻐한다. 그리고 요하난에게 합류하자 이스마엘은 암몬으로 도망한다.

8. 요하난은 백성들을 데리고 이스마엘이 그다랴를 죽임으로써 바벨론의 미움을 샀을 꺼라 두워려하며 애굽으로 도망한다....

그다랴는 자신의 잘못된 생각으로 요하난이 경고했음에도 불구하고, 이스마엘과 그의 군사들과 함께 식사를 한다. 그것도 무방비로... 그래서 죽었다.

이스마엘의 모습을 보면 자신의 잘못된 생각으로 살인을 저지르고, 순례객들을 죽이기까지 하는 잔인 무도한 짓들을 하게 만드는 것을 볼 수 있다.

요하난은 자신의 잘못된 생각으로 백성을 데리고 애굽으로 도망한다.

무엇이 문제인가...? 하나님 없는 자신의 잘못된 생각, 판단이다. 

하나님 없는 자신의 잘못된 판단은 결국 자신의 죽음, 끝 없는 죄악, 하나님에게서 떠남을 만들어 낸다.

언제나 하나님을 찾고, 하나님의 뜻을 구하는 것이 우리의 삶에는 필수적이다.
